The UCCA Educational Outreach Program
for Local Students

Throw a pebble in the pond...
the ripples are forever

The WHY:

Our aim is to inspire, teach, motivate, and create new artistic horizons for local youth by bringing artists of all genres into local schools for performances, workshops, and master classes.

The HOW:

The Educational Outreach Program is 100% funded by donations from music lovers like you who want to contribute richness and create new possibilities in the cultural lives of our youth.

The WHAT:

In our 2022-23 season, we initiated our Educational Outreach with three artist programs at Ukiah High School that were inspiring, fun, and perhaps even life-changing for some of the students:

October 2022, Deep Strings: The wonderfully creative duo of cellos and vocals from Berlin delivered a lovely short performance and coached students on how to improvise on any instrument at any level of mastery.

November 2022, Lluis Coloma, renowned Barcelona pianist of blues, boogie woogie, & jazz wowed students with his repertoire and worked with them on technique and improvisation.

February 2023, Tres Souls, LA-based trio featuring Ukiah’s own Rocío Mendoza singing romantic Mexican Boleros and sharing her journey from SPACE protégé to stardom.

“The outreach work has been incredibly beneficial for the students at Ukiah High. Many students do not have the means, or even inclination to attend concerts. Every time UCCA brings an artist here, there are students on the edge of their seats. They get to ask professional musicians questions, observe their skills, and oftentimes they even get to play with the guest artists. They are an inspiration and a great memory for my students.”

—Audrey McCombs, music teacher

The HOW MUCH:

Bringing an Outreach program into a local school on a week day after their full stage UCCA performance costs from $500 to $2000, and more if we factor in lodging and meals for an additional stay.

The WHO:

With everything else you do to keep Community Concerts going strong after 75 years of bringing world-class music to Ukiah, will you “throw a pebble in the pond” and let its ripple extend out forever with a donation specifically for Educational Outreach to our local students?
