Great Music and You – An Inspired Ensemble

Alexander String Quartet

Now in its fifth decade, the Alexander String Quartet stands among the world’s premier ensembles. The quartet’s list of awards, prizes, accolades and honorary degrees is long and illustrious. They have performed in the major music capitals of five continents and have one of the most extensive and well-reviewed discographies of any chamber music ensemble, featuring superlative accounts of Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bartok, and Shostakovich, among many others. They have collaborated with stellar guest artists and inspired numerous composers over the years, contributing richly to the fabric of our cultural life.

John Reischman & The Jaybirds

A satisfying blend of traditional and modern styles, this is Bluegrass music at its best. Now in their 20th year, with seven acclaimed albums and two Juno nominations, the Jaybirds are simultaneously innovative and unadorned, sophisticated and stripped-down, happily old-fashioned and 21st century contemporary. In addition to mandolinist and composer John Reischman, the Jaybirds consists of guitarist Patrick Sauber, brilliant lead vocalist Trisha Gagnon, Canadian banjo picker Nick Hornbuckle, and fiddle virtuoso Greg Spatz.

A passionate celebration of Afro-Cuban Latin Jazz—the 7-time Grammy nominated Cuban composer and pianist Omar Sosa is one of the most versatile jazz artists on the scene today. He fuses a wide range of jazz, world music, and electronic elements with his Afro-Cuban roots to create a fresh and original urban sound—all with a Latin jazz heart. Experience the brilliance of Omar Sosa on stage with his amazing collaborators: multi-reed player Sheldon Brown, Josh Jones on drums, and Ernesto Mazar Kindelan on baby bass.

In a sonic explosion of Afro-Mexican rhythms, electronic beats, and powerful rhymes, Las Cafeteras take folk music to the future. Born and raised east of the LA River, Las Cafeteras are remixing roots music as modern day troubadours. From Afro-Mexican to Americana, from Soul to Son Jarocho, from Roots to Rock and Hip-Hop, their show is a thrilling blend of instrumental and vocal music, and dancing in the Zapateado (Flamenco) tradition. Their electrifying sound and infectious energy have propelled them around the world taking the music scene by storm with their infectious live performances, crossing many genres and borders along the way.
