Great Music and You – An Inspired Ensemble

The Telegraph Quartet

“powerfully adept…a combination of brilliance and subtlety” – The San Francisco Chronicle

The four musicians of the Telegraph Quartet came together in 2013 with equal passion for the standard chamber repertoire as for contemporary works. The San Francisco Chronicle describes them as “…an incredibly valuable addition to the cultural landscape.” The recipient of prestigious chamber music awards, the Telegraph Quartet has performed in concert halls, music festivals, and academic institutions across the United States and abroad. They are currently on the chamber music faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as the Quartet-in-Residence.

The music of deep strings offers an outstanding mix of rhythm, melody and text in lyrical popular songs, virtuoso jazz improvisations, and Latin folk music. Ukiah’s very own S.P.A.C.E. prodigy Rocío Mendoza is joined by guitarists Roberto Carlos and Jesús Martínez, and by Ishmael Pineda on percussion and Ray Gudiño on bass to create their own interpretations of the Latino “Bolero” genre with the vintage sounds and songs of the 1940s-1960s from the Golden Era of Mexican Cinema.

Le Vent du Nord

“Exceptionally skilled, exceptionally entertaining” – Sing Out

Beloved by audiences worldwide and highly acclaimed, Le Vent du Nord is a leading force in Quebec’s progressive folk movement. With over two decades of experience, eleven albums, over 2000 live performances, and numerous prestigious awards, it is no surprise that the musicians of Le Vent du Nord are hailed as “Quebec’s Folk Heroes.” The group’s vast repertoire draws from both traditional sources and original compositions, delivering a broad range of global influences with hard-driving rhythms, strong voices, and great harmonies.

The members play a rousing assortment of instruments including the fiddle, guitar, bouzouki, hurdy-gurdy, keyboard, button accordion, and bass. Their most compelling instruments, however, are their voices, and they will sometimes put that colorful assortment of strings and keyboards aside to offer a cappella in rich harmony.

To quote the Syracuse News Times, “If you’ve seen them before, you already know. And if you’ve never seen them, words won’t do them justice. Le Vent du Nord is one of the best bands touring today, no matter your musical taste.”

Led by singer, songwriter, and mandolinist, AJ Lee, this sensational bluegrass band calls the Bay Area home, but performs all over the world. In 2019, they released their debut album, Like I Used To. Their second full length project, I’ll Come Back, came out August 2021. Falling loosely under the bluegrass label and drawing from influences such as country, soul, swing, and rock, AJLBS presents Sullivan Tuttle and Scott Gates on steel stringed acoustic guitars, AJ on mandolin, Jan Purat on fiddle, and Chad Bowen on upright bass.
